Ensconced in the cozy corner of the Parish Hall is the small but significant Greg Russo Memorial Library.  The current library reflects a desire to offer high quality Christian writings that may be both useful in building up the body of Christ and hard to find at local libraries. To this end, we have endeavored to include in the collection books that are of ‘classic’ status or are particularly strong contemporary works.  For ease of use, the library is shelved according to a handful of general categories: Anglicanism, Art & Aesthetics, Biography, Christian Life, Church History, Classics, Devotional Literature, Holy Spirit-Healing-Prayer, Issues, Spiritual Formation, Theological & Biblical Studies.

Our little kd_400library began with the gathering of well loved books by parishioners.  In order to curate the collection, a review process was begun, led by the beloved Greg Russo in conjunction with the clergy. At the time of Greg’s passing an honorarium was given in his name to further the development of the library. Currently, the library now named in Greg’s honor, is stewarded by CTR parishioner Kerry Crockett. Kerry has a background in theological studies and a love of good books as well as volunteer and professional library experience. It falls to her to make the first review of books as they come in via donation and she and Father Tim meet occasionally to review and make new purchases when possible. The library contains about 360 volumes to date, with more donations awaiting addition to the catalog.

Contained in the collection are a number of treasures to be enjoyed either while at Christ the Redeemer or at one’s own leisure. It is a wonderful opportunity to reread an old favorite like Corrie Ten Boom’s The Hiding Place or to take up a newer volume like James K.A. Smith’s Desiring the Kingdom. There is a simple process for checking out books described in the notebook located on the library shelves. Also found in the notebook is a listing of the complete collection arranged alphabetically by author.

Happy Browsing and Reading!
