Meet the Vestry

p_smickPeter Smick

Senior Warden (email)

Peter retired in the spring of 2012 having spent some 35 years in the field of secondary education, first as a teacher and then as a head of school. Episcopalians for most of their adult lives, he and his wife, Allegra, began attending Christ the Redeemer at the time of its founding in 2009. Peter grew up in the midwest near St. Louis and moved to New England in 1972. He and Allegra now occupy an empty nest in Beverly. Their four children—three daughters and a son—are all married and living in places as close as Providence and as faraway Los Angeles and Seattle. They have three grandchildren—’so far’!

They love to travel and hope that retirement affords them the opportunity to visit many of the destinations that are on their always-growing travel list. Though retired, Peter still keeps up with the world of education through research and writing. He is a serious baseball fan and also likes ‘guy stuff’ like fishing and cars. Most importantly, Peter considers it a privilege to be able to contribute his management experience to the service of our Lord as our Senior Warden.

edited-headshotKerry Crockett

Junior Warden (email)

Kerry grew up in Laguna Beach, California, but has lived with her husband Carter and two children in the North Shore since 2013. Having moved here from abroad, she has appreciated the way CTR serves as a base for building community, and has grown to love the rhythm and freedom of the liturgy expressed as a dynamic part of the historic Anglican Church. Previously, Kerry had the opportunity to create a K-12 school library in Kigali, Rwanda (where she and her family lived for four years). Today she is a Children’s Library Assistant at the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library. At home, Kerry nurtures gardens and people – and welcomes all. Away from home, she yearns to find or build beautiful community.

a_frenchAndy French

Treasurer (email)

Our treasurer’s voice plays an important role on the Vestry and in the CTR Choir. Andy loves most singing and growing roses (singing to roses?). At his parents’ insistence, he joined a church choir in the 7th grade, and hasn’t gotten out of choir since. He discovered the beauty of Anglican worship at Christ Church in 2004. Andy raises all kinds of roses; both modern and antique, bush and climbing. He is a software engineer with over 30 years’ experience, currently working for a small privately-held company.

b_harperBill Harper

Clerk (email)

Dr. Harper is a retired professor of Political Studies, having taught for 38 years at Gordon College, Wenham. In 2006, he formed a steering committee to consider planting an Anglican church, which resulted in the formation of CTR. Bill  coordinates readers for the 11:00 AM service and for special services such as Lessons and Carols. He serves as Clerk of the Vestry,  is also Clerk of the Synod of the diocese and has served as a diocesan lay delegate to various meetings of the Anglican Church in North America.

Jena grew up in Oneida, NY, attending First United Methodist Church then St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with her family. Throughout her childhood she attended camps at Casowasco (Owasco Lake, Finger Lakes) and Aldersgate (Adirondacks), was active in CCYM (Conference Council on Youth Ministries) and Red Bird Mission Teams to rural  Kentucky.

In seeking higher education, Jena came to Boston where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Facilities Planning and Management From Wentworth Institute of Technology. While in Boston she frequented Park Street Church. In 2008 she met her now husband, Ryan, and in 2010 they sought out a faith base on the North Shore, finding CTR as their perfect fit. Professionally, Jena is a Facilities Project Manager at a nonprofit museum in Boston and enjoys her role in the overall strategic mission of the organization. She loves camping and traveling with Ryan, playing with their dog Tobey, and dabbling in creative hobbies such as crochet and playing the harp. Ryan and Jena now call Danvers home and are blessed to be a part of the CTR Family.

e_conveyEric Convey

Vestry member (email)

Eric Convey lives in Hamilton with his wife, Stephanie, and — much of the time — his two children. Eric was a Boston-area journalist for much for more than 25 years, except for a stint of a couple years working on Capitol Hill, and now is communications director for a quasi-public investment fund. He is a 1987 graduate of Gordon College.

Dano Jukanovich

Vestry member (email)

Dano is new to Massachusetts, having spent most of his life in the greater Seattle area. Dano is married to Jennifer and father to Lian, Anna and Nathanael. He grew up in his faith through Young Life and mostly non-denominational churches, but was also active in Anglican and Free Methodist churches in Washington DC and Seattle before coming to Christ the Redeemer in 2013. Early in his career, Dano served in the US Army and has since worked in finance, operations and general management in different businesses from large public companies to smaller family-owned firms. Part of that experience included him and his family living in Africa for four years where they started a consulting and private equity business aimed at helping grow businesses, expand employment and lift people out of poverty. Dano still travels frequently to Africa as he continues to oversee this work.

Jennifer grew up in Topsfield, went to college and lived in Chicago for several years, spent time with Y.W.A.M. in England, and returned home in 2002 to attend Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. She currently helps lead singing in the 9:00 service and hosts and co-leads a 2:42 group with Aaron as well.
